Happy New Year 2012!

Hey there! I'd like to wish you a very happy 2012! Its the 1st of January 2012 and wow, it's a new year! Crazy times man... I just heard last night that someone said that the way the Mayan calendar was calculated was apparently wrong so the world won't end this year (a sigh of relief?)!

Looking forward to new music, new tours, new friends and not to mention, new people in the music scene! Who? Well, I'm gonna be offering a free recording session for acoustic solo/duo/bands soon! Details to follow. Meanwhile, have a great year ahead!

"THAT" song.. by Switchfoot :) made big by Mandy Moore

Just thought of covering that song made famous by Mandy Moore. It's a really beautiful song, especially so when the lyrics are so so so deep! Ever met Jon Foreman? Awesome bloke with a heart for Jesus.

While this song has made it as a love song by millions, this song is one of my favorite for a few reasons:

1. It reminds me that Jesus IS my only hope
2. That I can have full assurance that he listens to me when we pray
3. And its reminder to put my destiny in His hands, letting Him guide me everyday

So well, here it is... Enjoy!

Thoughts after the show~

My setup for the gig... Lakewood D-14 Custom, G77th Nashville Capo, MyMix IEM's, Bose Earphones, Encore 200 Mic, David Laboga Cables, Line 6 HD500.

It's interesting how when you look back at an event, you start to tell yourself how "it could have been". It's two days since the band and I opened and then supported the main act for his album launch. It was quite a killer set (you had to be there to experience it!) and it was especially uplifting as well. The band and I chilled at DOME for a while after the soundcheck and when we returned to run through the set and pray together (its a ritual that we always have!!), it was a joy to watch people stroll in and begin to fill up the auditorium at the Kum Yan Methodist Church. The total attendance was about 250 pax - a huge turnout considering the RSVP's added up to about 70! Crazy times man!

All in all, it was an amazing gig with an artist who has a huge heart for Jesus. It was a privilege and an honor. Thank you Galvin.

The Band
Me (Nathaniel) - Lead/Rhythm Guitar/BGVs
Rendy - Bass Guitar/BGVs
Calvin - Keys/BGVs
Kaiser - Drums/Percussion

This set was rather interesting for a couple of reasons...
1. We only had 2 rehearsals
2. The original set with drums was changed to a Cajon/Hi-Hat/Crash setup with our drummer using hotrods/hands... haha
3. Both Rendy and myself were using our outboard gear for the first time live! Exciting times!

This leads me into the sharing of the Line 6 HD500. One word, really... OUTSTANDING. Pretty much a pedalboard with tonnes of gear knocked into one little heavy board with switches! It worked amazing with my acoustic guitar. Delays were awesome, the amp sims were so good. I must say that it's a super-investment that paid off big-time! Now... while I won't post a full review of the gear just yet, I promise to review the HD500 soon enough so you gear crazy people can go pick yourselves a HD500 for christmas!

Down Under!

Hey people! The trip kicked off with quite the start really! Tripping with my wife and daughter has been a pretty fun experience - not to mention enlightening, or those of you who've just got your first bub, flying with a baby isn't exactly second nature. haha...

Arriving at Sydney, my good friend and buddy JP picked us up at the airport and the next morning, I was at his school presenting to the students of MVAC (Mountain View Academy). Fun bunch and I really enjoyed it!

I'd thought that the highlight of the trip would be the radio interview later on that evening but nope... it was actually these kids I presented to who made my day! (More about the radio interview later!) The students at MVAC were just toally... WOW... adorable, and so attentive! Can't wait to see you guys again!

JP and I later tripped out to ALIVE 90.5FM - one of the local Christian radio stations (we so don't have this in Singapore and that's so sad!) where I dragged JP into the show! haha... He's an awesome guitarist and he has to get an album out sooner or later! Well, we arrived at the studio and the show began. I thought that it would be a 30min set or something, but what happened was... I was given the WHOLE SHOW.

Talk about crazy? Wow... I was prepared to do about 3 songs... ended up doing 5 plus talking and interacting with the listeners live! That was awesome! (Thats me there with my Lakewood - it sounds absolutely fantastic!) Don't have a photo of JP in this one cos he wastaking pictures.

The next day I did a set at JP's church in Kellyville where he also featured. Overall an awesome trip in Sydney. I'm now with the folks in Melbourne and I'm looking forward to seeing those of you who are up in Perth at Carmel Adventist College! See you all soon!
